About

Who am I and why do I have a blog? Heh, that’s a good question.

I’ll start with the second question. I have a blog because everyone else does. :) Not really. I have a blog because I have some things I want to say and a blog gives me a place to rant. Maybe what I have to say is of no interest to anyone. Maybe it will be serious, maybe it will be goofy, but it will be me. So what will it be about?

Bible – As a Christian, something that I like to talk about and discuss is the Scriptures. For matters of faith, it is the only source of truth. As such, we need to strive for understanding it as well as possible. Sometimes I think we rely too much on tradition (what we’ve always been taught) rather than focusing on what the Word really says. Granted that there is a LOT to study to get the complete message, but that is part of the fun. Sometimes we need to answer the question “Why do you believe that?” Not necessarily for others, but for ourselves.

Family – I am a happily married man with four kids. One of those kids is a teenager. My daughter keeps telling me this is a big deal. I love my family, and we love doing things together. We home school our all four of them, and between baseball, school, and visiting grandparents, we stay pretty busy. We still have time to goof off now an again. Our favorite goof offs are the games, Pirate’s Cove and Ticket to Ride.

Baseball – If there is one other passion that I have outside of the study of the Scriptures, it is baseball. Not only do I watch Major League Baseball, I also coach (and assist) on my kids team, and I have a fantasy baseball team. My family follows the Atlanta Braves, but we enjoy watching other teams play as well. I enjoy coaching the kids as well; baseball really has a lot of valuable lessons for kids. My fantasy team is a “simulation” team. That means that we actually play out the games rather than just total up stats. The team’s name? Carolina Cajuns, of course.

Other Stuff – Well, sometimes there is just some other stuff going on that I want to rant or ramble about. Sometimes it will mean nothing to anyone; sometimes it may be interesting. In any case, sometimes “Other” will be the only way to categorize what I’m saying.

So, who am I? I’m a Christian, I’m a husband, I’m a father, I’m a baseball fan. I’m a lot of other things, too. I hope that I’m more than just the sum of my parts. I want to be the best Christian, husband, father, and, yes, even baseball fan that I can be. But I also want to be more than that. I’d like to be an influence. Not just on my family, but on those around me. I guess that is part of the reason that I’m starting a blog, too, so I can be an influence on more than those just right around me. I may never be famous, but if I occasionally put a smile on your face, or make you think then I guess this blog will turn out to be a good idea.
